sautéed mushroom and broccoli stir-fry

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for sautéed mushroom and broccoli stir-fry:
Ingredients:
- 300 grams of broccoli, cut into florets
- 300 grams of mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional, for extra flavor)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari (optional, for added umami)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional, for an aromatic finish)
- Red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
Instructions:
- Prep the Vegetables:
- Cut the broccoli into florets.
- Slice the mushrooms.
- Blanch the Broccoli (Optional, for a softer texture):
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and cook for about 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside. If you prefer your broccoli with more crunch, you can skip this step and directly stir-fry it with the mushrooms.
- Sauté the Garlic (Optional):
- In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. If using garlic, add it and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
- Cook the Mushrooms:
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms release their moisture and become tender.
- Add the Broccoli:
- Add the broccoli to the pan with the mushrooms. Drizzle with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil, and toss everything together.
- Season:
- Season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes to taste. If using soy sauce or tamari, drizzle it over the vegetables and stir to combine.
- Finish with Sesame Oil (Optional):
- For a touch of flavor, drizzle with sesame oil before serving.
- Serve:
- Serve the stir-fry as a side dish or over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
